The Parabola is a conical shape that can be found by cutting a cone parallel to it edge. It appears in question 6 of the Higher level Junior Cert exam accompanied with the ellipse. The key to getting top marks in the parabola and ellipse, besides the correct construction is the freehand curve. Avoid scribbles, messy curves, and pointed curves. The curve should be one continuous clean curve.
For the exam the pupils should be able to: - Construct an upright parabola. - Construct an inverted (upside down) parabola. - Construct a parabola at an angle. |
