Convert entities allows you to accurately transfer the outline of a sketch or model onto a plane. An example of this can be seen in the corresponding image.
It should be used to transfer sketches as opposed to trying to re sketch them. Using convert entities will also create a fully defined sketch which is why is should be used to fully define spline curves. |
Sketch Toolbar:
- First, we must be in a sketch on a plane or surface. If when we find convert entities that it is not available, a sketch is not open. - Go to the sketch toolbar along the top menu (see images). - Select the sketch toolbar. - This list will give you an option for Convert Entities. |
|
Search:
- Again, we will have to be in a sketch for convert entities to be available to us. - Go to the sketch toolbar in the top right of your screen. - We need to ensure we are searching for commands. If is does not say 'search commands' in the toolbar, click on the small down arrow on the right hand side of the toolbar and change it to commands. - Search 'Convert' and the option for convert entities will appear. |

There are only 3 requirements to use convert entities:
1. An object or sketch to convert: Convert entities is the conversion of a shape or sketch onto a plane as a new sketch. We need that shape or sketch. 2. An plane/planar surface/surface to convert on to: We need to have a surface or plane to transfer the sketch on to. 3. A sketch to be open on the options of number 2: A sketch must be open on the plane for us to convert. Convert entities is the creation of a new sketch therefore we need to be in a sketch. |
